Holiday cooking may feel like a stressful part of the season, but it doesn’t have to be! If you’re still using basic kitchen gadgets, such as your oven, microwave, and stovetop to cook your holiday meal, consider our list of other great kitchen gadgets that will make your big day of a cooking a bit easier.

So here they are—the best kitchen gadgets for your holiday cooking:

Turkey Fryer

Of course, everyone’s had a delicious oven-baked turkey on Thanksgiving, but a fried turkey is a one-of-a-kind treat. When you deep fry a turkey, the skin and outside will become crispy while the juices inside of the turkey are sealed, keeping the turkey moist and full of flavor. This is why deep frying turkeys on Thanksgiving has become such a trend in the latest years.

In order to serve a perfectly fried turkey, you’ll need a turkey fryer. One of our favorites to recommend is the Bayou Classic Outdoor Turkey Fryer, as it has a knock down stand and a 12-inch temperature gauge which will help you maintain the right temperature when cooking your turkey. You’ll also need frying oil and lots of it. The oil should completely cover the bird so that it cooks evenly, so make sure you have enough oil ahead of the holiday.

A smoker is another great way to cook for the holidays without hogging the oven space. One of our favorite ways to use a smoker on the holidays is to smoke a ham. Not only would this pair perfectly with a deep fried turkey, but it will bring a depth of flavor into your dinner that your family will love. If you don’t already have a smoker at home, we recommend Weber’s Smokey Mountain Cooker. This particular smoker has two plated steel cooking grates as well as 481 square inch cooking area.

Cast Iron Skillet

A cast iron skillet is a wonderful kitchen gadget to have during the holidays. Not only can your cast iron skillet make wonderful side dishes and entrees, it can also be used to make delicate desserts, such as cobblers, dumplings, cakes, and more. Lodge Cast Iron is our favorite brand to recommend, and they have so many different skillets in a variety of sizes. From large skillets, to flat griddles, to cornbread pans -- Lodge has a cast iron for your holiday recipe.

While a grill is usually the star of summer cooking, a grill can be a great gadget to have when doing your holiday cooking. Of course you can grill the main meat of the event, but you can also use your grill for vegetable side dishes, appetizers, and more. We love to recommend Weber and Napoleon Grills for those who are in the market for a new grill, as they come in a variety of sizes and uses.

Another top notch grill that we love to recommend is the Big Green Egg. This “Ultimate Cooking Experience” grill can be a plethora of things: a grill, a smoker, and an oven. This will open up a variety of doors for your holiday cooking. You could bake, smoke, or roast your turkey in your Big Green Egg so each year you serve a brand new recipe to your family.

Whether this is your first or 20th time cooking for the holidays, you should never underestimate the power of your seasonings. Of course, spices and rubs are a good place to start, but other opportunities to flavor your food include jellies, jams, and even ciders. The Troyer Country Market makes wonderful jellies, jams, and ciders that we love to use in our different holiday dishes. We also sell these in our Taylor’s Do it Center store locations.
